THINK ABOUT IT...

  • How much is it costing you having to sell on price and discount your farm products?
  • How many potential customers don't even know about your farm?
  • Do you ever have freezers/coolers full of food you can't sell? Or worse yet, good food you end up composting or feeding to livestock? How much is that costing you in carrying the inventory and lost sales?
  • Have you ever wasted a day at the farmers market and had to haul back all that you couldn't sell? What did that cost you in terms of time, money, stress and time away from your family?
  • Do potential customers even understand why they should buy from you rather than at the supermarket?
  • How long can your farm stay in business without enough customers to pay the prices you deserve?

HI, I'M TIM YOUNG!

YOUR FARM MARKETING COACH

I created Small Farm Nation Academy to teach you how you how to get more customers and have a financially sustainable farm business!

In 2007 my wife and I started a sustainable livestock farm. We operated one of the first meat CSA's, filling orders with grassfed beef, pastured poultry, lamb, free-range eggs, woodlot pork, rabbit…seems like we did it all. Then we opened a dairy, milked Jersey cows and produced both raw milk and award-winning farmstead cheese.  We sold our products directly to wonderful families, as well as to Whole Foods, Kroger and Earthfare.

Like you, we love being connected to the land and sharing the fruits of the land and our labor with customers who value what we do. But we found that the most challenging part of building a thriving farm business wasn't the farming. It wasn't even limited finances or Mother Nature.

THE HARDEST PART OF RUNNING A FARM WAS THE MARKETING!

We had no idea how much "farming" time needed to be devoted to marketing. If you've got a farm, you know what I'm talking about. Fortunately, we excelled at marketing, winning media attention from the New York Times,  NPR, CNN, ACRES USA, The Cooking Channel, RFD TV, MSNBC, Garden & Gun and other outlets. We built a loyal subscriber base of several thousand, always sold out of our farm products and hosted many farm events. And, I've been fortunate to mentor hundreds of students on how to start and grow their own farm businesses.

In 2017 I decided to take all of my marketing and farming knowledge and experience to help small farmers like you learn how to market and grow their farm products. So I created the Small Farm Nation Academy. I genuinely love helping my farm members to "get growing!"
